This "Itadakimasu" also adopted by the super Kawaii TV drama series titled "Shinmai Shimai no Futari Gohan"(新米姉妹のふたりごはん) which has attached trailers below.

The drama is about two new high school girls daily life who suddenly forced to live along in same house by their parent remarrying.

"Itadakimasu" is the praying phrase before eating meals.
However... grammarly the right phrase should be "Inochi wo itadakimasu".
"Inochi" means "Life", and "Itadakimasu" means "Take it" or "Recieve it".
Hence... the phrase is expressing the appreciation to the all animals or plants which become to be our meals for us to be live.
Therefore... We do not believe any certain religion but every Japanese people say "Itadakimasu" before eat every meals in general.
