Things must to know before coming to Japan.

I would like to make a proposal about "Inflexible situation in Japan" today.

However... since I have attached Rachel and Sharla video as usual.

They are always right and pointing out each problems in perfect way as always.

Hence... Just watch their movie may satisfies you well.



But felt like I must make my own descriptions, rather than just rely on Rachel's perfect movie.

Hence... added the below my fluffy explanations for to fill your satisfaction.

It is embarrassing to show after the Rachel's perfect content but... do not laugh loudly at me please.

【Japanese store staffs are always saying "Irasshaimase" to you.】.
★It is one way phrase expressing their warm heart of welcoming you. 
So... you do not have to answer them back.
Just small bowing is enough.

【Humidity in Summer.】.
★Japanese summer is extremely in hot and humid.
It is depend in the area but always around 30 celsius up to 40 celsius in day time.
Humidity is always around 70 % to 100 %.
So... beware of it when come over to Japan from July till September.

【Bring adequate cool clothes, underwears and shoes.】.
★Ladies shoes: Generally lined up from 22 cm to 25 cm shoeses only.
★Brassiere (Ladies' Bra): Ordinary Japanese stores only sell bras for the people who have small rib cages.
Hence... you might find difficult to find your size in Japan.
Japanese people are narrow small rib cages are in general and have different styles compare to Westerners.

【Medicines, cosmetics, especially hair oils.】.
★Better to bring your own, otherwise you will find yourself in trouble by not finding proper goods in Japan.

【Might not able to find cheap stores.】.
★Do recommend you to buy cheap stuffs in "The outlet stores" rather than buying at "Second hand store" as in the movie .

Many Japanese people have might feel "Second hand stuffs" are filthy and stained once they have known that is second hand stuff even they seemed to be in perfectly clean.

It is caused by our enduring ancient Japanese mindset of "Kegare".

【About "Kegare".】.
★Actual "Kegare" custom is from Japanese Shinto shrine mindset and it means as invisible spiritual thing a person, a thing, or a matter are contaminated with something related with death.

Hence in general, since these recycled stuffs are not be able to know the actual reasons of been sold to the store.

The most of Japanese people might think that even just owning these recycled stuffs might have a chance of being to contaminate ownerself by kegare of death.

Commonly Japanese people are strongly rejecting to touch or to use these death related words, event, or actual things in their daily lives.

This strong mentally rejection is especially against disease, bodily excretions, funeral or blood which strongly connected by death.

Japanese people are using this word "Kegare" to describe the situation that got to be contaminated by using death related words, wearing dirty clothes, or using dirty things.

This mentally behaviour is particular especially for Samurai.

They were avoiding to eat watermelons since as have known that it has a red colour as in blood colour in edible part.

If you are in the situation of "kegare" period like within 49 days after a funeral, you are not allowed to enter inside Japanese shinto shrine boundaries.

Add to that... explaining about the 49 days, in other words "Kichu"(忌中.) after a funeral...

a dead person is leaving to heaven after spending 49 days as a spiritual thing like ghost in this world.

While in that 49 days, no matter good or bad, that dead person's mind or thought are remaining in this world and it may wish or try to bring you to a heaven .

the day on 49th... a dead person leave this world along with their all wishes and minds.

This kegare may effects against living people, or even contaminate every worshipped gods.

Hence... during that 49 days period, you are in the situation of Kegare and not allowed to visit Shinto shrines.

However... Since Buddhism temples are administrating death funeral, you do not have to worry about entering their boundaries even if you are in Kegare period.

After "Kichuu" period, you are in the period of "Mochuu". (喪中.).

This "Mochuu" period lasts up to one year from the funeral.

During that time, you and your families should not open any types of celebrating happy events like wedding, or memorial happy event.

Also the people in "Mochuu" period are not allowed to use happy, celebrating words like "Merry" or "Happy", or even "Happy new year" also.

We have a habit to send each others celebration letters on the new year day as a custom in Japan.

But you have to send formal apologizing letters of notice that you would not be able to celebrate that days by being in "Mochuu period" instead.

If you do not care about being contaminated with death and treated as refrained from others, it might be alright.

ButI think that is not a right idea living in Japan.

This is the reason why I am always trying to use happy words as much as I can instead of unhappy words in my blog.

So... beware of it.
