Japan Travelling guide

t f B! P L
a very useful free ride train pass, but it is so complicated, You need to study before coming to Japan... なのです.

.

.

How are you going guys!!.

Does everyone has made a travel plan to come over to Japan??.

Well, today... would like to introduce about very valuable information for the people who are intending to travel around Japan by "JR trains".

Firstly explaining what is JR.

Well... "JR" stands for "Japan Railways company" which has privatization from government owned "Japanese National Railways"(JNR) on 1987.

This JNR was bankrupted due to a large amount of deficits by incompetent government officials management.

This JNR debts are remained still.

Hence for to compensate the loss, Japanese government is forcing collecting the extra tax only from the smokers by the amount of around JP 10 Yen per a cigarette even in today.

Ahaha... but sorry... this is not an issue for today.

So... let back to the today's topic "Japan Rail Pass" from now on.

I think some of you might have heard from the people traveled in Japan said "Japan Rail Pass" was the cheapest and been useful for them.

It is from the reason of being Japanese transportation fares are very high comparing with other nations like starting from JP 160 Yen for Tokyo train lines.

【Comparison of major transportation networks.】.
※Single way from Tokyo station to Osaka station (Distance is about 560km away).
(F.Y.I: JP 100 Yen for US $1.00.).

★JR Shinkansen.
・Regular fare:  JP 14,000 Yen up to 17,000 Yen.
・Duration time:  Less than 3.5 hours (Hikari Shinkansen) .
・Transit: Once.
Tokyo station = Shin Osaka station - Osaka station

★Airplanes, Japan Airlines (JAL) or All Nippon Airways(ANA).
・Regular fare:  JP 10,000 Yen up to 37,000 Yen.
・Duration time:  Less than 3 hours.
・Transit: Twice.
Tokyo station - Haneda Airport = Itami Airport - Osaka station.

★Intercity highway bus.
・Regular fare:  JP 4,000 Yen up to 12,000 Yen.
・Duration time:  around 8 hours to 12 hours.
・Transit: Non, directly connected.
   Tokyo station = Osaka station.

These fare is needed If you intending to go from Tokyo to Osaka.

If you focus on to "Japan Rail Pass", it seemed a bit expensive based on the above conditions.

But calculated for a day average, you can be able to see how valuable it is.

【JR Japan Rail Pass】
・Cost: JP 29,110 Yen to 81,870 Yen.
・Activating days: 7 days up to 21 days.
・Condition: Unlimited train pass during the period.

.

During the effective days, you are able to take all JR trains including Hikari and Kodama Shinkansen and other express trains , except "Nozomi" and "Sakura" super express Shinkansens.

So if you are planning traveling around Japan while your stay in Japan.

It can be stated that using this "Japan Rail Pass" is the cheapest way.

It only costs you around JP 4,500 Yen per a day comparing with the single fares at the above.

Hence here as my opinion... Since the very expensive "Green Pass" has only the merit of allowing you to make pre-reservation on comfortable seats.

Therefore... would strongly recommend you to select "Ordinary Pass" for saving your money, even if you can not make reservation on the economy seats.

It worth to bring it.

However as have mentioned at the above, The fare rates are depending on your traveling days around Japan.

If you are intending to come over to Japan during the highest seasons like in Summer "Obon"(お盆) holidays which starts from August 10th till 18th August, may cost you the highest price in the year.

This is because traveling in single way by a regular fare from Tokyo to Osaka by a Shinkansen (Bullet train) may costs you around JP 14,000 Yen up to JP 17,000 Yen.

If you have decided to take JAL or ANA (Domestic air flights) it will cost you around JP 10,000 Yen to JP 37,000 Yen.

Of course also there is another cheapest way to take, like riding intercity express buses around JP 4,000 Yen to JP 12,000 Yen.

But comparing their total duration time from Tokyo station to Osaka station.
The fastest is to take airplanes.

Even if you have decided to take airplane which it need to move to Haneda airport and Itami airport to Osaka station, it takes around less than three hours also even if you consider the time allowance.

※Tokyo station - 30 min - Haneda airport - boarding 30 min - flight - 60 min - Itami airport - 15 min baggage picking up - Shuttle bus - 30 min -  Osaka station.

The second best is riding a Shinkansen.

If you buy a regular Shinkansen ticket, you can take the fastest Shinkansen called "Nozomi" and "Mizuho" (Super Express Shinkansen), it takes only about less than three hours.

※Tokyo station - 2.5 hours - Shin Osaka station - 15 min - Osaka station.

.

But beware that if you are trying to use "Japan Rail Pass", super express shinkansen is not allowed to take.

.

Hence you have to take an inferior, an one rank down rapid shinkansen called "Hikari" which takes around three and a half hours.

※Tokyo station - 3 hours - Shin Osaka station - 15 min -Osaka station.

Even have stated one rank down it means only the duration time, they are using the latest same Shinkansen passengers cars called "N700 class Shinkansen".

Therefore you do not have to worry about riding "Hikari Shinkansen", but beware that it exclude "Kodama Shinkansen", "Kodama" is mainly using "N400" though.

If you have decided to move in not crowded a regular local Shinkansen called "Kodama", it takes around less than four and a half hours from Tokyo to Osaka.

※Tokyo station - 4 hours - Shin Osaka station - 15 min -Osaka station.

Beware to make sure the point that "JR Japan Rail Pass" is only valid for "JR trains" and "JR local buses", not for other private train lines, Metro lines and Private bus lines existing a lot in Japan.

Please note, apparently "All JR Highway Buses" are invalid (Not allowed to use the Pass) from 2013.

Therefore need to pay the regular fare when wish to take it.

.

Even said so... some of the private train lines are incorporated with JR lines.

It is complicated, so please refer the details shown on the below before to move around Japan.
